How does the Fantasy Draft tool differ from the Role Scores Tool?

Fundamentely, the Fantasy Draft Tool is built upon the same core functionality of the Role Scores Tool, leveraging calculations to derive role scores from player attribute values. So, if you are familiar with the Role Scores Tool then you will find the introduction to the Fantasy Draft Tool to be seamless. Checkout the Role Scores Tool Tutorial if you are unfamiliar with the tool.Prior to the addition of the Fantasy Draft Tool, using the Role Scores Views did not work in Football Manager's Fantasy Draft mode. Meaning, previously unless you manually configured your own Role Scores Tool compatible view in the Fantasy Draft Mode, you could not make use of the Role Scores Tool. This limitation has been addressed with the creation of the Fantasy Draft Tool, while it shares its foundation with the Role Scores Tool, the Fantasy Draft Tool is far from a mere replica. It incorporates several Fantasy Draft-specific enhancements to streamline and elevate the drafting process. These features are summarised below, with further details available in the adjacent tutorial sections below:
  • Player SelectionGain the ability to select players you are considering for your draft, allowing you to shortlist prospective choices effectively and keep your strategy organised.
  • Set BudgetDefine your Football Manager Fantasy Draft budget, enabling the Fantasy Draft Tool to calculate whether your prospective selections align with your financial constraints. This ensures informed decision-making during the draft.
  • Pre-select players from current draftIf you are already engaged in a Fantasy Draft, you can expedite the setup process from the pre-selecting players feature which automatically selects players from the current draft pool. By setting your Club Name in the Fantasy Draft Settings to match a drafted club's name, the Fantasy Draft Tool can automatically assign relevant players to your selection, saving considerable time and effort.
  • View remaining budgetAfter establishing your draft budget and selecting players, the Fantasy Draft Tool displays both the total and percentage of your remaining budget. Additionally, it calculates the average price of your selected players, offering insights into your financial efficiency.
  • View squad sizeKeep track of your squad size with ease. The tool shows the total number of players selected and how many slots remain within the maximum of 25 players. Furthermore, it calculates the average cost required for each remaining player to ensure your selections remain budget-compliant.
  • View number of players in each positionA visual pitch layout, inspired by Football Manager's own Fantasy Draft interface, displays the count of players selected for each position. This feature allows you to identify positional gaps and adjust your draft strategy accordingly.
  • View detailed player info of current selectionThe tool provides a detailed breakdown of all players currently selected for your draft. Players are organised by their primary positions, with each individual displayed on a dedicated card that highlights their attributes, roles, and suitability for your draft.
These features combine to create an indispensable tool for Fantasy Draft enthusiasts, ensuring a more streamlined, insightful, and effective drafting experience.Certain features present in the Role Scores Tool have been intentionally excluded from the Fantasy Draft Tool, as they are either not available or hold limited relevance within the context of Football Manager's Fantasy Draft mode. Below is a list of these omitted features:
  • Player Role Score TrajectoriesThis functionality, which provides an analysis of how a player's role scores evolve over time, is not included in the Fantasy Draft Tool, as long-term player development and potential trajectories are not pertinent to the short-term, competitive nature of Fantasy Draft mode.
  • Wage
  • Player Information (Inf)
  • International Caps
  • International Goals
  • Media Handling Style
  • Pros
  • Cons
  • Fantasy Draft settings?

The Settings button, that can found in both the main Fantasy Draft Upload Page and in the Uploaded Table screen after uploading your Fantasy Draft HTML file, will open up a dialog window with a form that allows you to configure your Fantasy Draft Settings within the FMDataLab Fantasy Draft Tool to align with your current draft setup.
    Settings Dialog Form
The Squad Budget input enables you to define your Squad Budget (in millions, For example, entering 10 in the input, signifies a budget allocation of 10 million) to ensure that any selected shortlisted players in the Fantasy Draft Table stay within your allocated financial limits, helping you build a competitive squad without exceeding budgetary constraints. If your Fantasy Draft budget is Unlimited then you can check the Unlimited checkbox.Checking the Unlimited checkbox will set your Squad Budget constraint to Unlimited, so any value within the Squad Budget input will not be persisted until the checkbox is toggled off.The Club Name input allows you to assign your Fantasy Draft Club Name to pre-select players already drafted in your current Fantasy Draft, simplifying the shortlisting process and allowing you to focus on strategic selections for a stronger squad composition, without needing to select players you have already selected in-game.Your settings are stored within your current browser session, ensuring they persist across all Fantasy Draft uploads. This allows you to conveniently adjust and refine them as needed without starting from scratch. However, it is important to note a limitation: these settings are not synchronised across different browsers or devices. If you switch to another browser or access FMDataLab from a different device, your customised settings will not carry over and will need to be reconfigured. This ensures consistency within the same environment but highlights the need for manual adjustments if you transition to a new platform.

How to Select Prospective Fantasy Draft Players?

Upon successfully uploading your Fantasy Draft File, you will be presented with a comprehensive table view, closely resembling that of the Role Scores Tool. However, this interface incorporates several additional features specifically tailored for Fantasy Draft mode. If you are unfamiliar with the Role Scores Tool Tutorial, it is recommend consulting its dedicated tutorial to gain a thorough understanding of its functionality.
