Caveats
There are some things to look out for in case you come across any errors, and steps to take before uploading your first file to the Role Scores tool.
- Ensure you use the Views Provided before Exporting, and ensure that you use the correct Role Scores views for the correct screen. Otherwise, you will be prone to errors and loss of data integrity if certain columns are missing. You CANNOT use Moneyball views for the Role Scores tool. The Moneyball tool uses different columns that the Role Scores tool.
- Use the English UK language option within Football Managers' Settings Preferences. FMDataLab calculates and outputs data into a table based on specific column names found within the exported Web Page from Football Manager.While FMDataLab does attempt to translate data exported in other languages back into English, this process may not fully restore the necessary details, potentially impacting the tool's functionality. Therefore, it is advisable to export your data directly in English from Football Manager's Preferences settings.
- On the topic of Football Managers' Settings Preferences. When it comes to filtering and sorting on the table, there are 2 preference settings you should look out for in case they are not set as the default from using another Language.If you were to open Football Managers' Settings Preferences and click on the Advanced Tab.Then select Formats from the dropdown.At the bottom of the list, there should be 2 options;
- Decimal Symbol
- Digit Grouping Symbol
- Football Manager Data Lab will work if you have Player Attribute Masking enabled. However, for calculations for the roles, which use a player's attributes, it will select the number in between the range of 2 numbers for the calculation. So, if the range for a particular attribute was between 11 - 15, FMDataLab will see that attribute as 13 , even if the actual rating for that attribute may be another rating.So it is advised to either Disable Player Attribute Masking or fully scout a player to reveal their accurate attribute values, for a more accurate role score.
- Using custom skins can produce some issues with views where certain columns are missing when importing the view.If you come across the Missing the following Required columns for processing: error message when viewing a file.It may be due to the skin not processing that column correctly, or you are using the wrong view.In the situation where it's an issue with the skin, you may need revert back to the Default Football Manager Skin and clear your in-game cache, or contact the creator of the skin and notify them of the issue.
