If you find that the existing Computed Statistics do not align with the specific metrics you wish to use for identifying a particular type of player, the feature to create your own Custom Computed Statistics becomes invaluable.
The Custom Computed Statistics function similarly to the standard Computed Statistics, in that they are archetypal figures derived from weighted factor-based calculations that utilise percentile values from multiple selected statistics fitting a particular archetype. These will be displayed as percentile figures throughout the Moneyball tool.
To create Custom Computed Statistics, simply click on the Custom Stats button after uploading your Moneyball file, which will open a dialog window.
You can generate up to 6 distinct Custom Computed Statistics, allowing you to aggregate various metrics to refine your recruitment strategy for the specific player profile you're targeting, particularly in areas not already addressed by FMDataLab. This feature offers a more tailored approach to your align with recruitment strategy.For each Custom Computed Statistic, you can select between a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 12 individual statistics.To add your first statistic Custom Computed Statistic click on the Add New Custom Statistic button.To add a new statistic to your Custom Computed Statistic, choose a statistic from the "Add New Statistic" dropdown in the "Weighted Statistics" section.Additionally, assign a weighted multiplier factor between 0 and 10 for each selected statistic using the provided inputs-this figure for each statistic indicates the relative importance of each statistic within the Custom Computed Statistic. The higher the value, the more influence it has in the factor-based calculation.
Create Custom Computed Moneyball Stats with all the necessary statistics to match the player profile you intend to recruit.You have the flexibility to remove any of your Custom Computed Statistics with ease. Simply click on the icon or click the Delete Custom Statistic button on the specific Custom Computed Stat you wish to delete. If you decide to want to remove all of your Custom Computed Statistics, you can do so by clicking the Delete Custom Stats button located at the bottom of the dialog window.
Your Custom Computed Statistics are retained across all Moneyball uploads, as they are stored within your current browser session. However, please note that if you switch to a different browser, use a private browsing window, or access the tool from another device, these selections will not carry over to those instances.
You can access your Custom Computed Statistics throughout the Moneyball tool as follows:
Moneyball Table:
Within the Moneyball Table, your Custom Computed Statistics will appear in the Computed column group alongside all other Computed Statistics. Here, you can observe each player's percentile ranking for each Custom Computed Statistic, derived from factor-based calculations that utilise the selected statistics within your Custom Computed Statistics.
As with all columns, you have the option to sort and filter based on your Custom Computed Statistics. Additionally, a tooltip icon next to the Custom Computed Statistics column name provides a brief summary of the statistics used in the factor-based calculation.
View your Custom Computed Moneyball Statistics within the Computed column group section.Scatter Chart:
In the Moneyball Scatter Chart view, you can select any of your Custom Computed Statistics as axis points via the dropdown menus.
As with all other statistics, you can also filter on your Custom Computed Statistics.
View your Custom Computed Moneyball Statistics in the Scatter Chart view.Player Details Panel Comparison Chart:
When accessing the Player Details Panel by clicking on a player's name from the Moneyball Table or a Moneyball Scatter Chart data point, you can select any of your Custom Computed Statistics from the "Statistic" dropdown in the Comparison Chart section. Upon selection, all statistics used in the chosen Custom Computed Statistic will be displayed as data points on the chart, enabling a detailed comparison of how the player measures up against other players/positions/top 5 leagues.
If a player's highest-ranking Computed Statistic is one of your Custom Computed Statistics, this will be the default selection in the "Statistic" dropdown.
Select any of your Custom Computed Moneyball Statistics in the Player Details Panel Comparison Chart.Top 10 Statistics:
Within the Player Details Panel, should any of your Custom Computed Statistics achieve a percentile rank that places them within a player's Top 10 statistics, they will be displayed in the Top 10 Statistics section.
View your Custom Computed Moneyball Statistics if statistic is one of selected players Top 10 Stats.Player Details Panel Statistics:
Finally, within the Player Details Panel's Statistics section, your Custom Computed Statistics will be listed along with all other Computed Statistics under the Computed section, offering another way to view and analyse these tailored metrics.
